Armenian Rice Pilaf

Armenina Rice Pilaf
Just like Mom made it

Ingredients:

2 cups of rice-We use Uncle Bens
1 stick of butter 
1 cup of broth for each cup of rice
Couple hand fulls of fine egg noodles (can substitute with angel hair pasta broken into 2-inch pieces)
2 tsp salt

Procedure:

  • Brown noodles in butter
  • Turn off heat
  • Add rice
  • Add broth
  • Add salt
  1. Bring the contents of your pan to a boil
  2. Turn heat to low medium
  3. Cover and simmer 
  4. Turn off the heat once most of the liquid is absorbed
  5. Leave the cover on and let sit for 10 min before transporting into a dish

Shortcuts:

Brown your noodles in the oven, let cool and put them in a bag that is air-tight. Seal and use them whenever you need them.

Procedure if using pre-browned noodles:

  1. Add your butter to the pan and brown it, which means your cook it until the butter looks brown.
  2. Add your rice and stir it in the browned butter,
  3. Add your noodles, broth, and salt.
  4. Stir
  5. Bring to a boil
  6. Cover
  7. Turn heat to low
  8. Turn off the heat once most of the liquid is absorbed
  9. Leave the cover on and let sit for 10 minutes
  10. Stir and serve
